Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has announced plans to establish a new cabinet post to implement Japan's new security policy of collective self-defence.

Abe said on 6 July that the new minister will be in charge of making the significant legislative adjustments that are needed to allow the country to exercise the right to self-defence.
