Japan deploys PAC-3 interceptors near flight path of previous North Korean IRBMs

The Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) have moved the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) air defence system deployed on the country’s northern island of Hokkaido to an area located closer to the flight path taken by North Korea’s latest two Hwaseong-12 (also known as KN-17) intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBMs), which were test-fired on 29 August and 15 September, respectively.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Tokyo confirmed to Jane’s on 19 September that the PAC-3 system on the island had been relocated from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force 's (JASDF's) Yakumo Sub Base to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's (JGSDF's) Camp Hakodate, which is also located on Hokkaido.
